YouTube Music to Spotify: Why This Direction Is Harder
The YouTube-to-Spotify direction is more challenging than the reverse for one structural reason: YouTube tracks have no ISRC field. Spotify and Deezer expose ISRC on every track object, which allows direct catalog lookup. YouTube returns only a title, channel name, and video ID. This means every match goes through the fuzzy path, and the quality of the match depends entirely on how well the video title reflects the actual song title and artist name.
Topic channels help. When your YouTube playlist contains videos from channels ending in " - Topic" (YouTube's auto-generated official audio pages), the title is typically in a clean "Song Title" format and the channel name gives you the artist directly. That makes the fuzzy match more accurate than playlists full of fan uploads or music videos with prefixes like "OFFICIAL VIDEO" or "(HD)."
What to Expect with Mixed Playlists
If your YouTube playlist contains a mix of Topic channel audio, official music videos, fan uploads, and live recordings, expect a higher proportion of tracks flagged for manual review. The tool strips common title noise ("Official Music Video", "HD", "Lyrics") before comparing, but it cannot reliably determine the artist from a title like "Bohemian Rhapsody (Lyrics)." There are no quota limits equivalent to YouTube's, only rate limits (which the tool handles automatically using the Retry-After header on 429 responses).
