Free Text to YouTube Music: Topic Channel Detection Helps Quality
YouTube Music's search catalog includes official audio, music videos, cover versions, and fan uploads all in the same index. When searching from a text list, the risk of landing on a cover or live version is higher than on Spotify, where search results reflect a curated catalog of rights-holder content. To reduce this, the tool weights results from channels ending in " - Topic" more heavily in the scoring.
Keep in mind that each search.list call to YouTube costs 100 quota units and each write costs 50. For a 50-song list, matching and writing together consumes approximately 7,500 units — within the 10,000-unit daily budget. For larger lists, the tool shows the estimated quota cost before matching starts. For text-list imports to Spotify without quota concerns, use free text to Spotify instead.
