Campus and Facilities

London Campus

Located at 23-28 Penn Street, Hoxton (N1 5DL), in the Shoreditch area. The London campus is Point Blank's flagship, established in 1994. Facilities include multiple recording studios, DJ booths, production labs, and performance spaces. The location puts students within walking distance of some of London's most active nightlife and music venues.

Los Angeles Campus

Located at 1035 S. La Brea Avenue, Los Angeles CA 90019. Opened in 2015, originally in the historic Mack Sennett Studios, then moved to a standalone campus on La Brea Avenue in 2022. The LA campus offers diploma and certificate programs but not full UK-validated degrees. Students receive free software (Ableton Live Suite or Logic Pro) with diploma enrollment.

Ibiza and Mumbai

The Ibiza campus offers short and specialist courses, primarily during summer months. The Mumbai campus offers a limited selection of production and DJ courses.

Notable Instructors and Alumni

Point Blank's instructors are working industry professionals. The school hosts exclusive masterclasses from visiting artists. Past masterclass guests include Andrew Goldstein (Illenium), Laura Escude (Jay Z, Kanye West), Jimmy Mac (Lorde), and Daddy Kev (Low End Theory). Pete Tong learned Native Instruments Maschine at Point Blank London.

Why It Matters for Independent Artists

Point Blank is built for electronic music producers and DJs. If you make house, techno, dubstep, hip-hop, pop, or any genre that revolves around DAW-based production and DJ performance, the curriculum is directly aligned with your goals. The school teaches Ableton Live and Logic Pro as primary tools, with courses on sound design, mixing, mastering, and creative production.

The LA campus offers a 12-month diploma at $19,495, which is faster and cheaper than most US-based music production degrees. The London campus offers actual BA (Hons) degrees at standard UK university fees (£9,790/year), making it one of the few private music schools where you can get a recognised degree specifically in music production and DJ performance.

The study abroad option between London and LA is a genuine differentiator. You can split your time between two of the world's most active music scenes without paying extra tuition.

The online division is worth considering if you cannot relocate. The intro course at $2,995 for 11 weeks gives you 10 hours with a professional producer and 120 hours of 1-on-1 office hours access. It is not a degree, but it is a structured way to evaluate whether the full program is worth the investment.

Potential Drawbacks

The LA campus does not offer UK-validated degrees. If you want a BA (Hons), you must study in London. The LA diplomas are vocational qualifications, not academic degrees, and may not transfer to university programs.

The London diploma at £12,990 for nine months is not eligible for Student Finance. Only the BA (Hons) degree programs qualify for UK tuition fee loans. If you enrol in a diploma or certificate, you pay out of pocket.

Point Blank is a for-profit institution. The quality of education is generally strong, but the business model relies on enrolling a high volume of students. Class sizes in short courses can be larger than expected. The degree programs maintain smaller cohorts, but diploma and certificate courses may feel crowded.

The school's focus is narrow. If you want to study classical music, jazz, musicology, or traditional instrumental performance, Point Blank does not offer these. Every program is built around contemporary electronic and popular music production.
