The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama (RWCMD) is the national conservatoire of Wales, located in Cardiff. For September 2026 entry, music applications open on July 9, 2026 and close on October 1, 2026. Music auditions can be conducted in person or via recording through the Acceptd portal. The music audition fee is GBP 63. Drama auditions have a separate fee of GBP 35. The BA (Hons) Acting program has three audition stages, with first-round auditions taking place online and recall auditions in person at RWCMD in Cardiff. Musical Theatre auditions follow a two-stage process (online first round, in-person recall).
For instrumental and vocal music applicants, audition repertoire requirements vary by program. BMus candidates typically prepare two or three contrasting pieces. An accompanist is provided for in-person auditions. The college offers a fee waiver policy for applicants who cannot afford the audition fee.
Tuition fees for UK students are set at the standard conservatoire rate (approximately GBP 9,250 per year for undergraduates as of 2025/26). International student fees are higher, typically ranging from GBP 20,000 to GBP 25,000 per year depending on the program.
