Dreamville Records

Dreamville Records is an American independent record label founded in 2007 by rapper J. Cole and his manager Ibrahim Hamad. The label ended its distribution deal with Interscope Records, a unit of Universal Music Group, in July 2025, with Cole receiving the bulk of his masters back and breaking off artists with residuals from the label payout. The roster includes J. Cole, Bas, Cozz, Omen, Lute, JID, EarthGang, and Ari Lennox, along with in-house producers Elite, Ron Gilmore, and Cedric Brown. Dreamville is known for its Grammy-nominated Revenge of the Dreamers compilation series. The label is based in New York City, Los Angeles, and Raleigh, North Carolina.

On January 28, 2014, at a show at the Theater at Madison Square Garden, Cole announced that his Dreamville imprint had signed a distribution deal with Interscope Records. Attendees at the show received a flyer announcing the deal and a mixtape, titled Revenge of the Dreamers. On the same day, Cole announced the signing of Queens-based rapper Bas. Cole spoke with Billboard about the Interscope deal, saying they had been dreaming about a label situation for years. The deal's been official since late December 2013, and talks with Interscope began when Joie Manda, Interscope president of urban music, reached out to Cole in 2013. On June 26, 2014, J. Cole officially announced the signing of Los Angeles-based rapper Cozz. Omen did not officially sign the Interscope deal until after his debut album in 2015. On December 8, 2015, Dreamville released a collaborative album titled Revenge of the Dreamers II, officially announcing two new label signees, Charlotte rapper Lute and Washington D.C. singer Ari Lennox. In August 2025, Cozz clarified to TMZ Hip Hop that the Dreamville distribution deal that Cole signed with Interscope back in 2014 simply expired, it did not get sold off, and the brand is still alive and well. Cole not only broke him and other artists off with residuals from the label payout, but also received the bulk of his masters back, a scenario that typically does not happen in the music industry.

Dreamville released a 30-minute documentary on July 2, 2019, chronicling the recording sessions for Revenge of the Dreamers III. The sessions took place over 10 days in January 2019 at Tree Sound Studios in Atlanta, Georgia. Directed by David Peters and written by Matt Carter and Scott Lazer, the documentary features J. Cole, Ibrahim Hamad, Bas, Cozz, Omen, Lute, Ari Lennox, EarthGang, and JID, along with outside artists including Vince Staples, BJ the Chicago Kid, Swizz Beatz, and Kenny Beats. The film was released on Dreamville's official YouTube channel.

• Ari Lennox (signed 2015): Washington D.C. R&B singer. Her debut album "Shea Butter Baby" (2019) was released on Dreamville/Interscope. The title track, featuring J. Cole, was released on February 2, 2019, and its music video was directed by Bennett Johnson, surpassing 3 million YouTube views within the first week. The album's lead single "Whipped Cream" (2018) was produced by Elite and Shroom.
• EarthGang (signed 2017): Atlanta hip-hop duo consisting of Olu and WowGr8. Their Dreamville debut album "Mirrorland" was released in 2019. They appeared on the Revenge of the Dreamers III compilation alongside JID.
