Quality Control Music

Quality Control Music (QC) is an American hip-hop label founded in March 2013 by Kevin "Coach K" Lee (COO) and Pierre "P" Thomas (CEO) in Atlanta, Georgia. It is home to Migos, Lil Baby, Lil Yachty, City Girls, Quavo, and the Concrete Boys. In February 2023, HYBE America acquired QC Media Holdings for $300 million in cash and stock ($250 million in cash and $50 million in stock), bringing QC under the HYBE America umbrella led by Scooter Braun. QC is distributed through Motown Records (Universal Music Group), which formed a joint venture with Quality Control in 2015 along with UMG's Capitol Music Group. The label has expanded into QC Sports and QC Films.

Quality Control built its reputation as one of the hottest hit machines in contemporary music. Since its founding in 2013, QC has been behind the rise of Migos, Lil Baby, and Lil Yachty. The label mastered the promotion of music through streaming, adapting the fire-hose-of-content strategy that had long flourished in the world of semi-official mixtapes. In 2022, Lil Baby had 2.97 million equivalent albums and 4.3 billion on-demand streams in the US. Migos had 2.9 million album equivalent units and 4.3 billion on-demand streams. In 2024, Lil Yachty launched Concrete Rekordz in partnership with QC and HYBE, expanding the label's imprint structure. However, the 2022 killing of Takeoff changed the emotional future of the Migos story and, by extension, the mythology around QC itself.

It is distributed through Motown Records (UMG), giving it major-label distribution while operating under HYBE America.
