Rice University Shepherd School of Music

The Rice University Shepherd School of Music is a music school at Rice University in Houston, Texas. The Shepherd School has existed in name since 1950, when Sallie Shepherd Perkins endowed it with $8 million in honor of her grandfather, Houston banker Benjamin A. Shepherd. It opened in 1974 under founding dean Samuel Jones.
